When the Helio Sequence recorded their new self-titled album, they were inspired by the “20 song game”. The rules of the game are simple. A band enters the studio, records 20 songs in a day, and hosts a listening party to discuss the process. The Helio Sequence took the idea one step further by heading to their studio space for a month to record all day. No planning, no discussing, just being 100% in the moment. After 2 weeks, Brandon Summers and Benjamin Weikel started to piece together recordings into coherent songs. By the end of the month they had 26 songs which they whittled down to 10. “There’s this sense of striving for perfection where you can actually take momentum away,” Summers said. “But we wanted this record to be momentum in and of itself.” Download “Stoic Resemblance” off The Helio Sequence and learn more about the band at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter.
