Ra Ra Riot Being reinvigorated by their own existence, Ra Ra Riot went back to their house party roots for their fourth album, Need Your Light. Initially the group had planned a longer break after their 2013 album Beta Love, but after a few months they couldn’t resist making new music. Vocalist Wes Miles decided to fly out to Los Angeles to begin fleshing out ideas with producer Dennis Herring (Modest Mouse, Elvis Costello). Shortly after, the entire band went on a trip to Milwaukee where the album started to take shape. “The inspiration came very quickly,” Miles says. War & Pierce

Life comes down to who you know. Chris Pierce & Sunny War are both accomplished musicians in their respected communities. Musician and producer Jared Faber knew both of them, and was convinced the two should make music together. So the three of them meet at Faber’s studio, and out of this first meeting came their first song. They decided to keep meeting and each time they would get together, the three would write and record. Eventually they had enough material to release their self-titled debut album. In 2005, Jess Wolfe became friends with Holly Laessig while attending the Berklee School of Music. The two would casually perform under the name Lucius but it wasn’t until they moved to Brooklyn that they where officially a band. Soon after moving, they met Dan Molad, Peter Lalish and Andrew Burri who joined the group. After hearing their vocal harmonies, infectious hooks, and dance-inducing percussion Mom + Pop Records signed Lucius. They put out their debut album in 2013 and on March 11th their sophomore record, Good Grief will be released. Download “Born Again Teen” off Good Grief and learn more about Lucius at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter.

Lucinda Williams

On February 5th, Lucinda Williams will release her 12th studio album The Ghost of Highway 20. The second album to be released on her Highway 20 Records, she draws inspiration once again from the road that cuts through the northern part of her home state Louisiana. A quieter, more reflective release, Williams sings about characters that travel the road or live right off it. Even in her 60’s, she still sings with that smokey, cracked voice that sounds like she’s on the the verge of breaking down.
