California duo Foxygen is set to release their fourth studio album, Hang Friday. Although Jonathan Rado and Sam France have released three other albums under the Foxygen moniker, Hang is bands first proper release. Recorded at Electro Vox Studios in Los Angeles, the album was recorded & mixed entirely on 2″ tape using no computers. In addition, the duo used a 40+ piece symphony orchestra on every track. Hard Love, Tim Showalter’s latest release as Strand of Oaks, is a record that explores the balancing act between overindulgence and accountability. Recounting Showalter’s decadent tour experiences, his struggling marriage, and the near death of his younger brother, the album emanates an unabashed, raw, and manic energy that embodies both the songs and the songwriter behind them. “For me,” Showalter says “there are always two forces at work: the side that’s constantly on the hunt for the perfect song, and the side that’s naked in the desert screaming at the moon. It’s about finding a place where neither side is compromised, only elevated.” Download “Radio Kids” off Hard Love and learn more about Strand Of Oaks at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

Singer-songwriter Matt Pond is the driving force behind the band Matt Pond PA. This past November, the band released their eleventh album Winter Lives. The record is a bold celebration of what blooms in the coldest, stillest time of the year. By now, fans of the band are not unfamiliar with the enduring love affair Pond’s lyrics and arrangements have with his shift-shaping environment: an embodiment of the season, the beauty in a prosaic exchange, the weight of expectation and hope, a moment that says a kiss is not a promise. But it can be something close to the truth. Download “Whoa” off Winter Lives and learn more about Matt Pond PA at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

California based Rhythm and Blues guitarist Nick Waterhouse got his start when his single “Some Place” was given to DJ Jonathan Toubin. Toubin was blown away with Waterhouse’s howling falsetto and played the song all over the United States. People became so enamored with the track, they paid $300 dollars on Ebay to get their hands on a copy. Fastforward to 2016, Waterhouse has released three albums and toured the world. His third album, Never Twice was released this past September.
