Free Download Of The Week: People’s Blues Of Richmond

Peoples Blues Of Richmond
People’s Blues Of Richmond describe their sound as “heavy, psychadelic, loud, manic, emotion-driven rock n’ roll,” and their latest release Good Time Suicide is a reflection of that. The Richmond, Virginia-based three piece consists of lifetime friends Tim Beavers II (Vox/Guitar) and Matthew Volkes (Vox/Bass) as well as  Neko Williams (Vox/Drums), whose father, Drummie Zeb, played with the legendary reggae band The Waillers. “The whole concept behind People’s Blues of Richmond,” Beavers says, “is that we all struggle, we all experience pain. Life is full of highs and lows, and we all work hard to survive. So we do the only thing we know how—we get out on the road, and we keep moving forward. We become a part of something bigger than ourselves.” Download “Black Cat” from Good Time Suicide and learn more about People’s Blues Of Richmond at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter.

Son Little
Son Little (as Aaron Livingston) was born in Los Angeles to a preacher and a teacher. In L.A., he absorbed songs from dusty family records and learned saxophone and piano. A move to New York introduced him to hip-hop, basketball, and art. And then a move to Philly introduced him to the legendary Roots crew. He played music with them, and they put his voice on an album. It was also in Philly where he first collaborated with renowned producer-musician RJD2. His latest effort, a six song EP entitled Things I Forgot, came out last November on Anti-. Download “The River” his latest EP and learn more about Son Little at his Anti- Records page, “Like” him on Facebook, and follow him on Twitter.

Ryan Corn
Growing up in rural Missouri, Ryan Corn took to music at an early age. He was especially captivated by what he heard on the radio. Says Corn, “I remember being enamored with various aspects of the many different musical genres that radio had to offer. I developed an appreciation for lots of musical styles and I think that appreciation manifests itself in how I write songs.” Following college, his Ryan Corn Band toured the midwest in an ’80s RV before splitting up. He recorded his first solo EP in 2010 with a second one out late last year. Now 30, Corn is set to release his full length debut on Curb Records, entitled Wonderful Things. Download the title track to Ryan Corn’s new album and learn more about him at his Official Website, “Like” him on Facebook, and follow him on Twitter.
