James Vincent McMorrow
Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow is back with his follow up to 2011′s critically acclaimed Early In The Morning. Regarding his sophomore release, Post Tropical, McMorrow states, “It’s so exhausting trying to keep up with styles of music that pop up one week, and disappear the next. For me, [the album] evokes a style of music without you having a clue what it sounds like. It’s warm and familiar, but there’s something there that’s maybe not quite what you think it is. I just wanted to make the most beautiful thing that I could imagine. And that was it.” Download “Gold” from Post Tropical and learn more about James Vincent McMorrow at his Official Website, “Like” him on Facebook, and follow him on Twitter.

Philadelphia’s Dr. Dog released their 7th full length album, B-Room, this past October on Anti- Records. The album, like many of their others, is heavily influenced by their Philly roots. When asked about the city’s role in their music, bassist-vocalist Toby Leaman pointed out that many of the famous acts coming out of Philly were collaborations, from Eddie Lang and Joe Venuti to Hall and Oates. In his words, “Just a bunch of weirdoes playing music and taking risks together.” Dr. Dog fits that bill. Download “Distant Light” from B-Room and learn more about the group at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter.

Free Download Of The Week: Ages And Ages

Portland, Oregon’s Ages And Ages have completed work on their sophomore effort, Divisionary. The album, which is a follow up to 2011′s Alright you Restless, hits stores on March 25th. “When we made this album, we wanted a word to describe how we felt and what we were going through as individuals and a band,” bandleader Tim Perry says, “so we made one up. ‘Divisionary’ signifies a group whose vision of ‘right’ is upsetting to the existing power structure. It includes a philosophical, spiritual, and physical ‘breaking off’ from the status quo. It also references the individual inner conflicts that arise as you struggle to make the right choices in life. Visionaries don’t always create conflict, but they challenge the establishment with new ideas and with the threat of change. Where there is change, there is usually resistance, controversy, division.” Download the title track to Divisionary and learn more about Ages And Ages at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter.
