Free Download Of The Week: French Style Furs

French Style Furs
French Style Furs is an indie supergroup centered around Cold War Kids frontman Nathan Willett, bassist Matt Maust, and We Barbarians drummer Nathan Warkentin. The trio named themselves after a Greenpoint storefront that they passed one day during recording sessions in Brooklyn. Their debut Is Exotic Bait has a bit of an unusual influence: while Maust and Warkentin were recording bass and drums tracks in winter 2013, Willett arrived with a book of poems written by 20th century monk Thomas Merton. The trio was so inspired by the work that they decided to use Merton’s poetry as lyrics for the album. Download “All The Way Down” from Is Exotic Bait and learn more about French Style Furs at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter.

Free Download Of The Week: Field Report

Field Report
Milwaukee-based Field Report released their sophomore effort Marigolden on October 7th via Partisan Records. Since the release of their self-titled debut last year, the band has whittled itself from a septet to a quartet, focusing its sound and tightening the screws. They retreated to snowy Ontario last December with producer Robbie Lackritz (Feist) to work on their second release. The result is a brighter album than their last, but something that remains as elegantly ominous. Download “Home (Leave The Lights On)” from Marigolden and learn more about Field Report at their Official Website, “Like” them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter.
