On The Strip Radio present The Band – The Radio Special, featuring Robbie Robertson, with an in-depth look at one of rock music’s most influential groups of all time and their 1971 Academy of Music live performance in New York City. Host Mike Etchart brings you an exclusive in-depth interview with The Band co-founder and songwriter Robbie Robertson. In the interview, Robbie covers the behind-the-scenes history and dynamics of the group, all the way from their roots in rockabilly with legend Ronnie Hawkins backing band, to their years playing with Bob Dylan, and to their own rise to fame as one of the most celebrated and iconic groups of their time. He shares the inspiration and stories of some of their best known songs, like “The Weight”, “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” and many others. The Black Crowes took the stage the Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park on Tuesday, August 13th. Playing to a pack lawn the Southern Rock band played for near 2 hours straight. The classic Hard To Handle and She Talks To Angels were played and sung by the thousands in attendance. The Encore was a special treat that combined both The Black Crowes and Tedeschi Trucks Band on stage at the same time performing That’s How Strong My Love Is AND Turn On Your Love Light. An amazing show all around. Below are some pictures of Chris Robinson on stage performing.
