Following years of fronting Death Cab for Cutie and other indie bands, Seattle-based singer-songwriter Ben Gibbard is trying his hand at a new solo career. Though commonly associated with other acts, this is technically not his first solo album (he performed as “¡All Time Quarterback!” as recently as 2002). His solo debut under the name “Benjamin Gibbard,” Former Lives, hit shelves at the beginning of October.
