Elvis Costello Doesn’t Want You to Buy His Music

1 Comment 01 December 2011

A new Elvis Costello box set titled “The Return of the Spectacular Spinning Songbook” that documents his Revolver Tour has been released. However, Elvis Costello is encouraging you to pass on the limited edition set in favor of classic Louis Armstrong recordings. On his website, Costello said:

We at www.elviscostello.com find ourselves unable to recommend “The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook” as the price appears to be either a misprint or a satire.

If you want to buy something special for your loved one at this time of seasonal giving, we suggest, “Ambassador Of Jazz” – a cute little imitation suitcase containing ten re-mastered albums by one of the most beautiful and loving revolutionaries who ever lived – Louis Armstrong.

There will be CD and DVD releases of “The Return of the Spectacular Spinning Songbook” early next year at a price that he has deemed more appropriate. You can read the full post on Costello’s Website. Do you still want to pick up this box set?

I’ll take Elvis at his word and buy the stuff next year at a reasonable price. Elvis IS king, but I’ve gotta pay the bills…
