This week’s edition of WTTS OverEasy
is a one-time only deal, in the morning only, as we’re broadcasting a great concert from Paul Simon at the IU Auditorium LIVE on Sunday night!
As to this week’s feature album:
One of Neil Young’s more interesting charity ventures has been raising funds and awareness for the Bridge School, a school cofounded by Young and wife Pegi in which they have a personal interest, as one of their sons has benefitted from the organization’s work. Annually since 1986 (barring 1987), Young has pulled together some great musical talent to support the Bridge School, and now a generous selection of performances from over the years has been compiled for the release of The Bridge School Concerts: 25th Anniversary Edition.
This week, we’ll feature songs from the first half of the collection, including OverEasy favorites like Gillian Welch and Fleet Foxes, startling reinventions of well-worn songs by Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam, and surprisingly effective acoustic(!) renditions of songs by the likes of No Doubt(!!) and Sonic Youth(!!!).
It’s a selection from a quarter century of concerts supporting the Bridge School, on OverEasy, with Todd Berryman, 7 to 11am on 92.3 WTTS.
One from the late great R.E.M. with special guest Neil Young on guitar
