Spin magazine called it “the year’s most beautiful album” on the cover of a recent issue.  The Onion’s AV Club used words like “timeless and immortal” and “truth-seeking” to describe it.  Two albums and a brace of EPs into their career, Fleet Foxes have created something nimble and pastoral on their latest release, Helplessness Blues.  It’s not been an easy road to get it, though: word has it that the band put $60,000 of their own money into sessions two years ago that ended up fruitless in the course of making the album. But, from the sour can come the sweet, and this time around, the band expands their palate into other, somewhat surprising instrumental textures, expanding on the Renaissance-Fair-by-way-of-Crosby-Stills-and-Nash vibe of their earlier work.

Is it the year’s most beautiful album? Sample it on this week’s WTTS OverEasy and decide for yourself – 7 to 11 a.m. and p.m. on 92.3 WTTS.

Here’s a little something from their first album for you…
