Comments Off 23 March 2011

Two-time academy award winner, Elizabeth Taylor, died today of congestive heart failure at the age of 79.

Taylor was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center 6 weeks ago, just days after celebrating her 79th birthday.  She was surrounded by her four children when she died.  Her son, Michael Wilding said:  “My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love.”

Elizabeth Taylor starred in over 50 movies including, “National Velvet” , “Father of the Bride”, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”, “Cleopatra” and “Butterfield8.”   She was a child star who grew up on screen and in the spotlight of  Hollywood.  She triumphed in her personal life as well, despite her many marriages, public battles with weight and  health scares.  Her advocacy for AIDS research and for other causes earned her a special Oscar, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, in 1993.
