The recently completed mission of the space shuttle Discovery has been in the news because it marks the final flight of that storied spacecraft. But, the mission also marked a first. Big Head Todd & The Monsters won a NASA contest to provide the first-ever live musical wakeup call for the astronauts from Mission Control.
Appropriately, the song, “Blue Sky” was written as a tribute to the Discovery’s return to space following the Columbia disaster. Big Head Todd & The Monsters won the contest with over 700,000 votes, nearly a third of the total cast.
I voted from all of my email accounts and some fake ones along with some of my husbands votes we did it for Todd & Monsters. I Love the sound of BHT&tMs. Always have and always will. I thank my time rockin’ to 92.3 while at IU for that.
