Rick Ocasek Joins The Cars For First Studio Album In 24 Years

1 Comment 17 February 2011

The Cars’ Rick Ocasek describes the new album as “not a reunion — it’s more like a conjunction.”  The Cars are set to release Move Like This, their first studio album in 24 years.  Rick Ocaksek claims that he never thought he would make another album with the band, citing “the past, personalities and Ben’s passing away” (referring to bassist-singer Benjamin Orr’s death in 2000).

Move Like This, recorded last year in Los Angeles and New York,  will be released on May 10th through Hear Music.  The band includes: Rick Ocasek, drummer David Robinson, guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboard player Greg Hawkes.

As stated in Rolling Stone Magazine, Rick concedes, “I was aware that on half of the new songs, Ben would have done better than I did, but we never wanted anybody from the outside.”
