Wilco have announced that they are departing Nonesuch Records to open their own label, dBpm Records. The label will be marketed and distributed by Anti- Records, which itself a subsidiary of Epitaph Records. The new label will be run by the band’s longtime manager Tony Margherita.
Wilco released four studio albums, a double-disc live record and a concert DVD as part of their recently completed deal with Nonesuch. According to Rollingstone.com, though these records, including their breakthrough hit Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, were the most successful of their career, band leader Jeff Tweedy says that they were eager to take more control over their business. “We really like doing things ourselves,” Tweedy said in a statement, “so having our own label feels pretty natural to me.”
