This time around on WTTS OverEasy, it’s back to business as usual – well, if you can ever call it that – on the show. Having turned you on to a few of the lesser-known songs of Stealers Wheel and Gerry Rafferty on last week’s show, this week Todd Berryman returns with a great feature album, and an early taste of it before you can pick it up on Tuesday, the new one from the Decemberists called The King is Dead. Much buzz has been afoot about the prominent guests on the album, including Bonnaroo and WTTS OverEasy heavy-hitter Gillian Welch on additional vocals, plus multi-instrumentalrist Peter Buck on loan from R.E.M. Unlike the last full-length Decemberists outing, The Hazards of Love, this album is broken up into discreet pieces, rather than playing as one continuous track.
We’ll also touch on other Decemberists songs, and more from Gillian Welch and R.E.M., on this week’s OverEasy.
