WTTS OverEasy — August 1, 2010

We’ll open the month of August with a new Marc Cohn album – it’s a concept album built completely from cover versions, and the album salutes the tradition of being able to audition new 45s and long-players before you had to buy them, simply by taking the vinyl into an isolated booth, slapping on headphones, and hearing what all the fuss was about.  Check out Marc Cohn’s new recording, Listening Booth:  1970.

Overeasy should go syndicated. The thought behind each song as well as the sequencing creates a seamless connection between each song. I have been introuced to songs that I can’t go without after hearing and would never be exposed to without Overeasy. Repeating it was the smartest move to expose even more to the knowledge and variety. How Todd continues to have so much background information that makes the song ‘come alive’. Just an incredible 4 hours, week after week. My all time favorite artist is Van Morrison and it seems I can either hear one of his, him covering someone else’s (I cover the waterfront) or someone covering his (Waterboys- Sweet Thing). Again, think syndicated…
