My Morning Jacket are one of several acts covering the songs of John Prine in a tribute album called Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows: The Songs Of John Prine. The roster includes Conor Oberst & the Mystic Vallley Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, Justin Vernon (a.k.a. Bon Iver) and Josh Ritter among others, which mean it’s shaping up to be one of the strongest various artist collections of the decade.
MMJ has also been known to cover The Who, as they do here with Pearl Jam:
Devo‘s schtick is “devolution” and although their latest album Something For Everybody shows how the band has changed and evolved since their last album two decades ago, their sound remains just as angular as it ever has been. We’ll feature more from their latest tonight.
Vampire Weekend released their third album Contra back in January and hasn’t slowed down. While still touring in support of the album and contributing their expertise to the Twilight: Eclipse soundtrack, the band seems to never slow down. We’ll have more from their third album, as well.
