Kings Of Leon Bombed

2 Comments 26 July 2010

Oh, you only THINK dealing with his beak is the problem...

Of all the reasons a band has walked away from performing, pigeons may be the strangest. But that’s exactly the reason Kings of Leon walked offstage prematurely at the Verizon Amphitheater in St. Louis last week. Even after seeing the number the pigeons did to the group’s opening bands, The Postelles and The Stills, Kings of Leon decided it was too late to cancel the performance. After three songs of being bombed from above, however, the band apologetically ended the show early. Fortunately, there’s no reason to believe Kings of Leon will face similar aerial bombardment when they visit OUR Verizon Wireless Music Center on September 3rd.

When I heard about this, all I could think of was the lyrics by the Pretenders for “Back on the Chain Gang”:

“A circumstance beyond our control, oh oh oh oh
The phone, the tv and the news of the world
Got in the house like a pigeon from hell, oh oh oh oh
Threw sand in our eyes and descended like flies”

    Except it wasn’t sand…

As a KOL fan, I would have been rather disappointed being at this show. Not only to have been left with just 3 songs and my money back in my pocket, but to see one of my favorite ROCK bands give up due to pigeon crap. I read that it ended up in Nathan’s mount…which would suck…but, suck it up, excuse yourselves from the stage for a breather…get some mouthwash, put some hats on, and continue the show…I think this has severely damaged their reps
