WTTS Indy Underground — June 7, 2010

2 Comments 07 June 2010

Portland-based indie alt-rockers Blitzen Trapper are a band that is not afraid of change.  Since their first release in 2003, they have seemed to tackle every sound imaginable ranging from alternative to twang-country.  Now they’re back with their 5th album Destroyer Of The Void, which will see a June 8th release.  What should be expected from BT this time around?  Less rock and twang and more psychedelic and opera?  Who knows, but we’ll preview one from their latest.

Prior to their show at The Vogue on the 8th, we’ll take a closer look at Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros‘ latest From Below.  We’ll also take a closer listen and see if we can hear pick out each of 10 members as they sing at once.

Emily Haines took a break from Broken Social Scene last year to branch out and revisit her own brand of synth-driven rock with her band Metric.  Released early in 2009, Fantasies, is still making some noise (and possibly breaking some wine glasses).

You’ll also have a chance to win tickets to see The National in a WTTS Indy Underground and MOKB presents show at The Egyptian Room at Old National Centre on October 2nd!

All tonight at 8pm, on 92.3 WTTS!!

Thanks for supporting Blitzen Trapper. I’ve followed this band for the last few albums and they are refreshingly different. I loved hearing them on TTS.

Your willingness to play bands such as BT are the reason that I listen to TTS. Thanks for being on my dial. Don’t ever leave me.

    Love,
    Julie
