Musicians Pitching in for Gulf and Nashville Aid

Comments Off 12 May 2010

While the full extent of the damage from the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has yet to be seen, Crescent City musicians aren’t wasting any time stepping up to help their beloved city. Lenny Kravitz, Ani DiFranco and Allen Toussaint are just a few of the artists scheduled for Gulf Aid on Sunday, April 16th. And, while attention is focused on the Gulf, it’s worth remembering that Nashville just experienced record flooding, which had a massive impact on musicians from all kinds and even left the stage of the Grand Ole Opry underwater. Jack White pitched in to help his adopted home through his Third Man Record Shop, which was open extended hours on the 8th and donated all profits to flood victims.
